Jayne Wallace - Psychic Sisters

Here, we dive into Jayne’s story of how she became an internationally acclaimed clairvoyant and the owner and driving force behind her globally renowned company ‘Psychic Sisters’ based in Selfridges, London.
When did you become aware of your gift of clairvoyance?
Probably as soon as I came out the womb! I've always sensed and felt things from really, really small. I have memories from when I was five, six, seven or eight. I used to always see and sense things. I used to do a lot of astral travel and have out of body experiences a lot, you know, I always used to fly as a kid. I'd go to loads of different places but my mum was into all the spiritual stuff. She used to take me and my little brother to a spiritualist church when we were around eight, nine and ten years old. When I was young my mum had polio, she got it when she was born, so we used to go for her. She used to go for healing. So, it was kind of normal for us. I think this nurtured it. My dad was Catholic, he was like, no, it's like devil work, but she didn't care really. So, he just accepted it. It started going from there.
What a blessing. It must be quite overwhelming to have those experiences from a young age if you don’t have the right support in place?
They label it as things like Schizophrenia. They'll put you down as having mental health issues because you're hearing voices like an inner voice. One of my friend's, before she met me, used to think her son had mental health issues because he hears voices. He’s actually very gifted but the Doctor said he's schizophrenic, put him on drugs. And it literally wasn't that, it wasn't the answer. And I was trying to explain to her, it's like, you hear a voice, but it doesn't mean to say that you're psychotic or need medication.
So for me, my mum used to always say, you've got a little gift and you connect with angels and spirits. She explained it all. So when I had visions or feelings, I could talk to her about it. So for me it was easier. Nowadays, I think people are more open, people understand it more. I think it’s where religion is not as strong as it used to be, people are losing faith in the church.

Can you tell us about your space, Psychic Sisters, and how it came to be?
Well, that was just fate. I went to London with one of my friends - I had an Aveda gift set and the little foot gel was missing. So, we went into Selfridges and got the foot gel. I wanted to get a cup of tea or coffee so we went downstairs, circled and there was not one seat in the house. It was packed. I circled again. I said, there's a table with our name on it. I just remember it so clearly, we went around, lo and behold, there was a table and then I sat down. My friend was like, oh do us a quick reading. So we got our tea, put my cards on the table, as you do. And then as I sat there a man was over by the back wall.
He was there with some woman, but I didn't know who he was. He just kept staring at me.
I said, that's the man I need to talk to. That’s the man I need to talk to about getting a shop and that was it, carried on with the reading, say 20 minutes. And then he came over with this woman. He asked, what are you doing?
And I was like, why?
And he was like, oh, I just want to know. I'm interested.
I said I'm a clairvoyant. I'm doing a tarot reading.
Oh really? he said. Can you do that anywhere then?
And I went, well, yeah. (I said, like, obviously!)
So he went, oh, it's all a load of bollocks anyway.
I went, I'm not being funny but why are you interfering? It's really nothing to do with you.
Oh, it's all bullshit, he says.
And then I remember I just stood up, pulled him over and told him something in his ear and he went, fuck when can you start?
It turned out he was the director of the store.
So, I always believe in positioning when it comes to fate, there’s always a reason. The director only does a floor walk on a Tuesday for about 10 minutes. It was just weird that at that time, that chair was available. I sat down and he was there. Everyone thought I’d be there for six months and it's now been 15 years. It’s crazy.
What are the services you offer and who do you work with?
We do astrology, aura, crystal readings, tarot reading, palmists, everything across the board really. Our team is made up of women of different cultures, different languages. We are all different colors, sizes, shapes and forms. Two of the team are pensioners. So they're like over 65. So we are very, very varied in who we are.
I don't think there's one country we've not connected with. We get a lot of men as well. Yesterday I did readings for eight men, one woman. So, there's a lot of men there, but from all walks of life. We have multibillionaires to the a-list celebrities, to normal people.
My favourites are the Arab women. They are just so interesting. When it comes to their lives and how they are, when they come to London, it's like two completely different energies, like yin and yang. They come out of their shell when they come over. And then when you go to see them in Dubai, they're all secretive.
How would you say your work helps others?
I help a lot of people with business and the development of their business. It's how you help people to see their lives in a very different way. It allows people to be more open. And I think because we are in-store at Selfridges, it makes it more mainstream in that way. Whereas I think prior to that, it was all Gypsy Rose Lee at the end of Brighton pier! I think people trust us because of where we are, because of the company that we're working with. Some people are just curious, want to just know things. Some have lost people, you know, and want to connect with loved ones for reassurance. And I think now especially, people are so lost - you’re just sat indoors so I think for some people it helps them mentally cope and to breathe a little bit. It helps people to find their own feet and their own direction.
What do you love most about what you do?
The clients. We've got so many really good, varied clients. I travel a lot for work, which at the moment I can't, but when I do I get to stay in really lovely hotels. I teach a lot around the world, go to the Four Seasons. You get the bonus of sitting in the Maldives, you know, working, but obviously being paid to sit there!
How do you unwind?
I like to have connection, so in the night time, I like to cut off from the day. I lay there and breathe, do my Reiki. I'm really into breathwork at the moment.
We live on an estate where there's land so I'll go and watch the deer. I like going out and walking.
My new fascination is the birds in the garden!
